About StuccoToday
36+ years. One mission. Exterior remediation done right.
Chris McNamara's Story
Chris McNamara has been solving masonry and stucco problems since 1988 — before most of today's contractors started their businesses. As the owner of Stucco Today and McNamara Masonry Restoration, Chris developed a proprietary remediation methodology through 36 years of hands-on experience. It's a methodology that doesn't just meet manufacturers' recommended standards — it surpasses them.
This isn't a pop-up siding company that appeared last year. McNamara Masonry Restoration has deep roots in the masonry trade, and that expertise shows in every project. Chris's team understands how moisture moves through wall assemblies, why builder shortcuts lead to catastrophic failures, and — most importantly — how to solve these problems permanently.
Today, StuccoToday serves homeowners throughout Montgomery County, Bucks County, Philadelphia, and Delaware County, specializing in the complete remediation of failing stucco, stone veneer, and exterior cladding systems.
Our Methodology — Addressing Root Causes, Not Symptoms
Standard stucco remediation addresses symptoms. Chris's methodology addresses the root causes of stucco failure — improper moisture management, missing drainage planes, inadequate flashing, and builder shortcuts.
Every StuccoToday remediation follows a meticulously structured, multi-phase process:
Phase 1: Protection & Demolition
Complete removal of ALL existing cladding down to framing. We replace deteriorated OSB underlayment with plywood (superior moisture resistance), sister-frame where necessary for structural reinforcement, and replace all damaged insulation. Silt fence installation protects your property and the environment.
Phase 2: Window & Door Flashing
Five steps per window: Flex Fortiflash Butyl tape on inside of all openings, Corner Shield rubberized corner flashings, fabricated aluminum sill pan flashing, fabricated aluminum drip caps, and windows reset after flashing. This is the detail work most contractors skip entirely.
Phase 3: The 8–10 Layer Underlayment System
This is the heart of our approach. Fortiflash Butyl at the foundation junction. Ice and Water shield at foundation and all vulnerable areas. JumboTex two-ply vapor barrier or Henry Obdyke HydroGap housewrap. KEENE Rainscreen Drainage Mat for active drainage. Weep screed above foundation. Kickout diverters at every location. EZBead soft joints with DOW 790 around every window, door, and dissimilar material junction. Most contractors install 3–4 layers. We install 8–10.
Phase 4: Application
Three-coat stucco system (Scratch → Brown → Finish), four-part stone veneer system, or James Hardie system — all installed to surpass manufacturer specifications. Every AZEK mounting block gets a drip edge. Every fixture penetration is properly flashed.
Phase 5: Seal, Finish & Inspect
Z-flashing details at all rooflines and clearance areas. Township inspection for permitted jobs. And for James Hardie installations: a final inspection by the manufacturer's own representative. Your final payment is only released upon their approval.
James Hardie Elite Preferred Contractor
As a James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor, StuccoToday is held to the highest installation standards in the industry. Our dedicated James Hardie representative, Sean Lichtenvoort, inspects every job three times:
Inspection 1
Pre-job meeting with Chris and the homeowner to lay out the complete scope of work.
Inspection 2
After all flashings and trim are installed — the rep inspects before siding goes on. Issues are addressed before proceeding.
Inspection 3
Upon completion — final payment is only released upon the approval of the Hardie representative.
